RANNA®
has consistently produced large scale work throughout lifetime
as an artist. This selection of pieces provides an overview
of pivotal developments in her work since establishing a second
professional base in the greater Washington D.C. greater area
- Shenandoah Valley - early in 1998, building on a successful
career in Queensland, Australia. The artist trained in Japan
and Australia where she earned two graduate qualifications,
one in Aboriginal material culture researching the rainforest
Aboriginal shields of North Queensland. For this she received
one of only two research grants offered by the Australian
Museum annually, and she produced one of only two dissertations
devoted exclusively to the rainforest shields. Her PhD in
creative arts was the first studio based PhD completed in
Australia. It explored the art, music, and philosophies of
India and East Asia, and compared elements of these to those
of the West.
Ranna
has exhibited in the U.S.A, Australia, Japan, and Germany.
The Lord Fairfax exhibit was accompanied by selected instrumental
compositions by the artist, composed for and performed on
Asian instruments.
