Hot
Spot(s) (14) - Desert Lion, Desert Lamb (Mesopotamia), 91cm

ARTIST'S COMMENT: There
is a "mythology" about when the lion and lamb lie down
together. I was struck by how the map of Mesopotamia (Iraq) and
surrounding lands reveals a lion and a lamb lying side by side...
Throughout the creation of the Hot Spots series, in quiet
conversations with friends, I would comment about the number of
people quoting "when the lion and the lamb lie down together",
but to me, having pored over map and satellite images of Mesopotamia
and surrounding lands for months to produce the Hot Spots
series, it was obvious that they already do through geo-political
juxtaposition. It astonished me that no-one else seemed to have
noticed that - or the incredible beauty when viewed from satellite
height. © Ranna®.

Hot Spots works are inspired by satellite images courtesy of
